My name is Gabe O’Steen. I am a graphic designer with an Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Young Harris College. My degree specializes in the subjects of Spanish, Communication Studies and Graphic Design.

As a designer, I find inspiration in a multitude of places. I have found inspiration in the form of print and digital media, mentors and other professional artists. Even before my time as a graphic designer, I found artistic inspiration in nature, in works of film and television, and even in my own emotions. Some common themes in my work are the use of colorful and eye-catching imagery, attention to small detail, and expression of emotion. I think it is very important to be observant and always be aware of communicative objects, messages and experiences that I could utilize in my work.

My design process could be described as both methodical and instinctual depending on the piece or project at hand. When I begin a new project in a professional setting, I research the subject, medium, purpose and audience in order to familiarize myself with what a client may want. After that, I take what pieces of information I have found and, using my own instincts and intuition, put those pieces together in order to clearly express and communicate the client’s desired message. After all, graphic design is, at its core, a form of artistic communication and expression.
